Aliens Network, an Open Conversation at OCA

OCA and Verdensrommet are pleased to invite you to an open conversation introducing Aliens Network and its initial members.

Aliens Network is a transnational effort established by Verdensrommet to gather tools, exchange knowledge and bring answers to crucial challenges faced by non-EU/EEA creative professionals working in the Nordics.

For the first assembly of the network, Verdensrommet is presenting this open conversation with representatives of the six grassroots organizations in the Nordic region.

Felis Dos

Felis Dos, a self-taught visual artist hailing from the Brazilian countryside, draws profound inspiration from his upbringing rich in faith, working-class consciousness, and spirituality. His artistic journey is a compelling exploration of destruction, uncertainty, and discomfort—a passionate endeavor to challenge entrenched narratives. Felis's visual language is characterized by vivid imagery and symbolism, creating a powerful and universal dialogue that transcends the limitations of spoken or written words, resonating deeply with the human soul. Felis graduated with degrees in Philosophy and Logistics in Brazil and has called Silkeborg, Denmark, home since 2018. His artistic exploration knows no boundaries, reaching audiences across the globe.

UKK (Denmark) Organisation for Kunstnere, Kuratorer og Kunstformidlere is a professional organization for artists, curators, and art mediators. We work for a sector of art with more diversity, new forms of practice, and mission-oriented structural development.

Helle Holm Thomsen

Helle Holm Thomsen runs her own Law Firm Holm/Thomsen Law and is an experienced legal adviser particularly within Immigration Law and (International) Family law. She has many years of experience both within corporate immigration and private immigration and handles e.g. work permits, family reunifications, asylum and citizenship cases. Since spring 2023 she has been part of the Danish network IMMART as a member of the Advisory Board. She is engaged in many different aspects of immigration regulation both on a volunteer and a professional basis and has for many years been a volunteer tutor in different events. She is also engaged as an ambassador at Human Rights in Action (a Danish organization involved in tutoring students on Human Rights).

IMMART (Denmark) International migration meets the arts, co-creates opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and for paid work in the arts and culture scene at home and abroad.

Alexandr Foy

Alexandr Foy is a dedicated agent of change, a skilled professional networker, and an effective communicator with a pragmatic approach to organisation. His expertise spans a range of key competences, including socio-economic integration, non-profit sector governance, media and event production, and inclusive education. With a strong commitment to values such as human rights, equality, and social inclusion, Alexandr has made significant contributions to the non-profit sector. He co-founded and currently serves as the chairman of Svenska.fi, an association focused on the integration of foreigners in the Swedish language in Finland. Additionally, he plays a pivotal role as a board member of Tigern rf, a Swedish-speaking cultural association that publishes Ny Tid magazine.

GLOBE ART POINT (Finland) promotes and supports the status and working conditions of artists and cultural professionals with a foreign background residing in Finland.

Corinne Mazzoli

Corinne Mazzoli is a visual artist who lives and works in Venice. The analysis of the female body in relation to the image on social networks is central to her research process; in particular, Mazzoli explores identity constructs and gender stereotypes in connection with online representation. She is currently PhD researcher at University of Milan-Bicocca, investigating “the educational process as artistic practice”. She is part of Art Workers Italia since 2020.

AWI (Italy) Art Workers Italia is a non-partisan association. It collaborates with experts in the legal, fiscal, and administrative sectors, with research institutes and universities, with art and cultural institutions, to build ethical, contractual, and legal tools to protect art workers.

Una Holmquist

Una Holmquist is an artist and art teacher living in Malmö. They have been a member of UNICORN- artists in solidarity since 2016.

UNICORN (Sweden)- artists in solidarity is a network of artists and cultural workers in Malmö which is committed to creating a society based on solidarity and sustainability, as well as an art world not limited by political changes.

Wiola Ujazdowska

Wiola Ujazdowska is an artists and art worker living in Iceland. She holds an M.A in Art Theory from Nicolaus Copernicus University, Torun, Currently she is ph.d candidate in Fine Arts program at Art Academy in Gdańsk, Poland. The main focus of her artistic ph.d research is creation of visual objects and artworks that are presenting ontological and conceptual exploration of what will be after anthropocene and what can” grow” on the post-industral ruins. Works as set designers for independent theaters and choreographers as well curator of VOR/WIOSNA festival produced by MMF/Slaturhusid in Egilsstadir and ACT_IN_OUT international project (PL/IS/NO) awarded by a EEA grant program. Her works have been shown in the U.S.A, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Iceland, Bulgaria and Norway and she received numerous scholarships and awards for her artistic practice ( scholarship of Polish Ministry of Education and Culture, artist salary from Icelandic Ministry of Culture and Education, Icelandic art center grant). She is a member of two collectives AIVAG and Beyond The Post-Soviet.

AIVAG (Iceland) Artist in Iceland Visa Action Group is an advocacy group working towards the possibility and accessibility of residency permits for artists and freelancers in Iceland.
