Apichaya Wanthiang

Apichaya (Piya) Wanthiang (B. 1987, Bangkok, Thailand) holds a BA from Sint-Lukas, Brussels and an MA in Fine Arts from Bergen Academy of Art and Design (KHiB). Wanthiang constructs environments in order to study how they influence our perceptions, behaviours and interactions. She works mainly with painting and installations comprising light, sound and text. Piya has exhibited widely in Norway, amongst others she has had solo exhibitions at the Munch Museum, Kristiansand Kunsthall and UKS (The Young Artists' Society). She worked part time as Assistant Professor at Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, and the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design (KMD) in Bergen. Wanthiang also made an immersive wall-based installation for KORO at NMBU campus Ås, ten permanent murals for Kulturetaten at the newly built Ruseløkka Skole and six indoor murals for Søndre Borgen Helsehus. Katrine Elise Agpalza Pedersen is an art historian and curator based in Trondheim, Norway. She earned her MA in Art History at the University of Oslo. Pedersen functioned as Interim Director of Kunsthall Trondheim May– December 2023, whereas she holds the position as Curator. Pedersen's curatorial practice focus on perspectives combining alternative realities, spiritualties, knowledge systems and technology. Recently, she has explored themes of diasporic ancestry, neuroplasticity, and memory – an inquiry motived by her own experiences as a second-generation Filipinx immigrant. Recent curatorial projects includes the group show “Attention After Technology”, curated with Stefanie Hessler and others, “Panteha Abareshi: INVALID PLEASURES”, and the group show “A Body of Memory (from neurons to the sea)” with Kaja Grefslie Waagen as Assistant Curator (all 2023). Projects in 2024 include the group show “Tongues of Fire” and solo shows with Emilija Škarnulytė and Emilie Gossiaux, all co-curated with Adam Kleinman. Pedersen is Vice Chair of The Norwegian Association of Curators.
