Hanna Sjöstrand

Hanna Sjöstrand is a visual artist based in Oslo. She holds an MFA from the Academy of Fine Artsin Malmö. Sjötrand primarily works with painting. Her work explores issues of depiction, performativity and representation through contextually framed processes. The work often revolve around violent structures embedded in modern society. Since 2019, she has worked with a series of tree portraits. During recent years, her painting practice has examined the creative act in the perspective of human history.

Sjöstrand’s work is represented at Museum and in privat and public collections, such as KORO, Region Skåne, Region Stockholm and Statens Konstråd. She has exhibited at institutions and and galleries in Sweden and Norway such as LNM Oslo, Lund Konsthall, Ystad Konsthall, Malmö Konsthall, Stene Projects in Stockholm, Elastic Gallery in Malmö/Stockholm, Galleri Wallner in Simris and Martin Bryder gallery in Lund. Sjöstrand also has a practice within the fields of the performing arts. Since her move to Oslo in 2016, she has participated in 12 works by playwright and director Ludvig Uhlbors as co creative artist, performer and Costume designer and set designer.

Fadlabi

Fadlabi was educated at the Art Academy in Oslo (KHiO), Al-Neelain University in Khartoum, and Sudan University

Influenced by commercial sign paintings in Africa, Ethiopian church paintings and afro-futurism, using various media such as painting, text, sound, video and performance. Through site-specific projects, Fadlabi aims to critically challenge preconceived ideas on identity, race, and power dynamics in History and contemporary life.

In 2008 he founded “One Night Only” an artist-run platform in Oslo that shows a new artist every Monday. Possibly, Norway's most busy gallery. Between 2010- 2014 he worked with artist Lars Cuzner on European Attraction Limited, a contemporary rendition of a human zoo named The Congo Village and was part of the 1914 World Fair in Oslo. They re-enacted the village and opened it to the public in May 2014. He founded Khartoum Contemporary Art Center in Oslo together with Karin Erixon
